Breakfast Cyber Briefing for Business Owners and Directors - Tuesday 26th March, London UK
2019 is already proving to be a challenging year for businesses, and not only because of the dreaded “B” word! In cyber security we have already seen the biggest data breach in German history, revealing data on politicians and celebrities across the country.
A grammar school in Newcastle this month had the parents of its attendees targeted in a phishing scam that sought to con parents out of their children’s tuition fees, which could have resulted in tens of thousands of pounds being stolen. And in the last week the Collection #1 data dump has taken the title of biggest data breach of all time.
The targeting of politicians, celebrities, schools, and the general populace all serve to show that cyber crime is truly indiscriminate. These criminals simply do not care whether it is a business, charity, school, or individual they are targeting, so long as there is a payday to be had.
The problem may seem impossible, that everybody is being hit and there is nothing you can do about it. This simply is not true, all businesses can take reasonable, proportionate, and cost-effective steps to build their resilience to cyber crime.
