Dr Danny Steed contributes to The Hague’s Program for Cyber Norms as a Visiting Fellow

As part of ReSolve Cyber’s interest and commitment to contributing to the academic world, our Head of Strategy Dr Danny Steed will be attending The Hague in the Netherlands throughout Spring 2019 as a Visiting Fellow.

The Hague Program for Cyber Norms is funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the intent to host stakeholders from academia, government, and industry to apply critical thinking to cyber peace and security issues, particularly the development of normative behaviour in cyberspace.

Having recently finished his second book for publishing house Routledge – The Politics and Technology of Cyber Security – Danny will now participate in joint research at The Hague to explore the role of intelligence services in the development of security behaviour in cyberspace.

During his time in the Netherlands, Danny will blog weekly on the experience of industry contributing to scholarship, and the challenges of drawing on expert scholarship for industry use. On being granted the Visiting Fellowship Danny remarked:

“It is hugely exciting to do some full time academic work once again, and a real privilege to be working with the fantastic team at The Hague having met them last year. I really cannot wait to begin, get writing and arrange my thoughts for what my next book will take on!”

“We’re very proud to be able to support academia in this way. Few companies, especially start-ups, can contribute beyond their industry and into scholarship like we do. Having already supported The Atlantic Council’s Cyber 9/12 Competition recently, for Danny to be able to secure this type of Fellowship shows how the ReSolve Cyber team uses its unique experience to stay at the cutting edge not only of industry, but scholarship on cyber security as well.”
